Pendulums!

Hello Arachnids! Let's discuss the pendulum. 

A pendulum is a divination tool used for simple yes or no questions. They are fun and easy to use whether you’re a seasoned practitioner or just curious.

They can be any object attached to some kind of string or chain, or they can be very specific for the kinds of reading you’ d like to do. For example, a pendulum made from rose quartz will connect better to love readings.

Whichever way the pendulum swings, determines the answer to your questions…after you’ve programmed it.

Different pendulums have different ways of communicating their answers. This can be a back and forth swing, side to side of circular. To figure this out, you’re going to want to program the pendulum. You can do this by asking the pendulum to show you what their yes looks like and what their no looks like. This can be done on it’s own or with a chart.

To know if you’re pendulum is properly programmed, you’re going to want to ask it easy questions, like your eye colour, today’s weather, anything you already know the answer to. If the pendulum answers correctly you are good to go, and if not, continue to work on programming it.

Two things I recommend you do with your pendulum are to cleanse it and bond with it.

There are a few ways your can cleanse your pendulum and this will ensure it hold the energy you want so you’re both on the same spiritual page. You can cleanse it in salt, with water (if it’s components are water safe), in the moon or sunlight (if it’s components are light safe) or through smoke cleansing. With smoke cleansing, you can use incense or appointed herbs.
Do not use sage. This is for two reasons. One, sage wipes out all energies leaving it open for negative energy to invade, or leaves it completely empty. Two, the use of sage, especially white sage, can be considered part of a closed practice. This plant is endangered and this endangerment negatively impacts the indigenous community, where sage is a sacred medicine.

To bond or connect with your pendulum, you’re going to want to carry it around with you. Keeping it on you (in your pocket, in a bag, etc.) will help you bond and feel connected to one another. It is easier to connect spiritually with a tool you have bonded with. You can also achieve this by meditating with your pendulum.

How a pendulum works is a matter of personal belief. It’s widely believed that the answers you receive come from your subconscious or higher self, which causes vibrations through your arm into the pendulum. Note that not all readers hold their pendulums; some will use a stand instead.
Answers can also be given through spirits, deities, the universe, ancestors or guides. Personally I believe they can come from any of these sources, as with any form of divination. What you believe is up to you.
